The Launch of Four Points by Sheraton Penang

Another great reason for us to visit Penang!

Well, the news about Starwood Resorts & Resorts Worldwide along with Plenitude Berhad, opening Four Points by Sheraton Penang on the tropical paradise of Penang, was indeed welcoming news.

Now, we would have yet another cool place to stay, on the edge of Ferringhi Beach, and with a reputable brand, no less. The modern resort with 220-room fully renovated, was a sight for sore eyes… the best thing of course, being the secluded Tanjung Bungah beachfront, that makes you feel like you are on a private holiday home.

Four Points by Sheraton Penang is located on a secluded beachfront in Tanjung Bungah, 25 km, or approximately 45 minutes from Bayan Lepas International Airport.

The resort is convenient to Penang’s tourist attractions and convention centers and just 15 minutes from the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage City of Georgetown, the popular beach area of Batu Ferringhi and Straits Quay, an up-and-coming destination for dining and shopping and home to the Straits Quay Convention Centre.

Chuck Abbott, Regional Vice President, Southeast Asia, Starwood Hotels & Resorts, tells us at the launch that the Points by Sheraton Penang offers travelers a fresh, new option on this scenic island, which is a popular choice for meetings. It is also the fourth Four Points to open in Malaysia, behind properties in Kuching, Langkawi and Sandakan. Starwood currently operates 11 hotels in Malaysia, with three more in the pipeline, under six of its brands: Sheraton, Westin, Le Méridien, The Luxury Collection, Aloft and Four Points by Sheraton.

Madam Elsie Chua, Executive Chairman, Plenitude Berhad added that Malaysia is one of the most dynamic destinations for business and leisure travel and they were pleased to partner with Starwood to unveil the Four Points.

With great fanfare, the Four Points by Sheraton Penang is declared, open for business! 

During the Q&A Session, Kurt Vieren, GM of Four Points, told us that his vision was for the F&B Outlets at the hotel to be famous not only internationally but as well as locally, for great food and beverages. Stay tuned for our following posts, to see if the food, would be up to the mark!
