We traipse over to Di Wei, Empire Hotel Subang.. because we caught the scent of an Apple Cider roast duck!
What’s there not to like, about a succulent, glistening, beautifully browned bird.
And at Di Wei, a rather fantastic version of the bird, called the Honey Apple Cider Crispy Roast duck, was something I could not wait to wrap my mouth around.
Honey Apple Cider Crispy Roast duck
Created by Di Wei’s BBQ expert, Chef Lai Yoke Wei, this was one crispy duck. Apparently the secret is in the seasoning, and over night marination of the duck. A well prepared marinade of blended apples, honey sauce and a smattering of apple cider beer is smeared all over the duck, then it is hung up to dry before being roasted in the oven.
While it is drying, the duck is further glazed with maltose syrup. The Chef pricks the skin all over with a sharp point and the duck is then roasted tille the surface is burnished and crackling. The remaining blended apple and honey sauce is served with the duck, as the gravy.. the final product is amazing, moist and succulent duck with a nicely bronzed crackling, crispy duck skin! This promo is on from now, till the end of April 2013 , and the price for a whole duck is RM70++ and RM40++ for a half.

This next dish is one that’s full of collagen and great for the women. Braised for a fair amount of time, till the abalone sauces have been absorbed by the fish maw, this is a premium dish, but at rather affordable prices. Served with a dried scallop fried rice, wrapped in egg, this dish costs only RM58.80++ per set, at Di Wei. The promo is on, starting from 1st March 2013 onwards.

The rice tastes awesome as well, and I used to to mop up every last drop of the abalone sauce!
A gorgeous fruit platter concludes lunch.
