Orange retro funk by Glenmorangie at The Pool KL

The Hill’s second outlet, The Pool, is the latest party place to be and to be seen. We were invited to the recent Orange themed party with Glenmorangie, at the launch of The Pool, Kuala Lumpur’s newest nightspot along Jalan Ampang.

The Glenmorangie Orange Night that was hosted by the truly sporting Will Quah, was entertaining enough – which other M.C. would allow himself to be chucked into the pool, clothes, electronic gadgets and all.. talk about baptism at the Pool!

Upon arrival, there were also these funky, orange skinned models in retro-inspired body paint who posed with guests and made the night rather interesting. I really loved the Whisky served that night especially the Glenmorangie Zest – whisky with a twist. It had a lovely flavour as it had been infused with orange zest – a real lady’s drink.

As the night wore on, the Glenmorangie ambassadors unveiled the brand new Glenmorangie Facebook page on their iPads. Guests got to entertained themselves with the Glenmorangie “Spin The Bottle” App on the iPads. The page, www (dot) fb (dot) com/GlenmorangieMalaysia will highlight exclusive updates, events and promotions by Glenmorangie.

Daikanyama’s resident DJ Alex Asquared kept the music funky and light, I liked some tracks especially when Booka Shade kicked in, but those funky choons ended way too soon. Generally the Pool’s DJ for the night, played house, indie dance and some 80’s tracks which were entertaining enough I suppose.

Will I be back to party? Hell yeah – I liked the open concept of The Pool (this location is actually the old bungalow, with sprawling land, that housed the old Spasso Milano once upon a time- another one of my favourite Italian restaurants). I liked the fact that there are a lot of open spaces and it’s airy and non claustrophobic. Makes a change, partying, without having your eyes water and hair smell like an ashtray by the night’s end. The Pool should be the party place to hangout at, FY2012.
