One weekend we had a hankering for Hennessy XO Seafood Noodles.
The Hennessy XO Seafood Noodles is supposed to be all the rage at Restoran Keng Nam Hai so we went to check it out…
I ordered to Lala Bihoon (clams vermicelli), which turned out to be pretty good, with a decent pungent flavour and seafood kick. It tasted a bit like Seong Tong Lala but with more soup. This bowl cost 10 bucks.
The Hennessy XO Seafood noodles was a bit of a disappointment. It tasted like it had been cooked for 20 and therefore diluted by 20 bowls. Hardly tasted any cognac in it. If you’re looking to get a giddy high from slurping up fumes of XO, forget it – you’ve come to the wrong place. Watery and indistinct, this dish priced at RM15 did not go down well with us. The Seafood comprised of prawns, cuttle fish, clams, with a couple of minute scallops thrown in.
In the end, Siew Yoke saves the day.
Ranks way up there and we will add it to our Top 10 Siew Yoke post soon.. fabulous, crispy crackling, and melt in your mouth rendered fat, layered with succulent, well seasoned meat.
We’ve decided to come here for meat rather than seafood noodles from now on. What a pity the noodles didn’t meet our expectations. So the hunt for good Hennessy XO noodles continues…
