If Chicken Up sounds familiar, that’s probably because you’ve traveled to our neighboring republic, Singapore and seen it there.
Now, the oh so popular Korean fast food joint has graced our shores and set up shop in Subang Jaya. If super salty chicken wings such as the soy-coated Ganjang Up is your thing, or cloyingly sweet, sugar glazed Yangnyum Up (RM28 for half a chicken), marinated for half a day is your thing, then by all means visit the joint. The sauces are thick and strong, while the chicken is plump and juicy.

It can get hot, dining at the upper outer deck of the shop, so make sure you’re dressed appropriately. Plastic disposable gloves are given to you (so thoughtful!) so you don’t mess up your nicely manicured nails with the red chicken sauce.
Well executed fried onions – crispy on the outside and caramelized on the inside
Spicy Korean Seafood Noodles.. tasted average, kinda like maggie mee
super delicious, bouncy japchae
The way the chicken and food’s prepared will have you reaching for the watermelon soju (RM48) to quench your thirst, and thank God it’s refreshingly yum – big enough to be shared.
pineapple beer cocktail which was a bit flat
And if Bulgogi French fries covered in cream, onions, chives and bulgogi sauce is not decadent enough for you, try the massive hot pot – the Snow Squid Topokki, a cast-iron pan filled with a larger than life, battered squid, rice cakes, fish cakes, kimchi, corn, cheese, fried rice & egg pudding.
Don’t be like us and drink the egg (mistaking it for sauce! LOL) wait till it boils and have it with the kimchi rice and condiments. Priced at RM68 this one should fill 4 people easy.
