Serious question.
Do Italians even eat breakfast?
The ones I know, grab a cereal, the obligatory espresso and that’s it.
Nope, none I’ve ever met ate a hearty breakfast. Or even brunch for that matter.
Let alone a bubbly brunch.
Ahh… but one can always pretend, no? 🙂
Especially since Nero Teca on Damansara Heights, has now launch it’s assault on our sweet and savory taste buds, with an extensive array of Italian Pastas, all sorts of lush Egg dishes, Saffron infused Seafood Paella, Prosciutto Crudo di Parma, fragrant Parmigiano-Reggiano, but also a nice mix of soft and hard cheeses, Mortadella di Bologna, fresh Rocket Salad and desserts all made with Italian flavors for Asian appetites.
I spy, my favourite cured meat.. Mortadella! I can rather mechanically, put away a ton of this with just cubes of Parmigiano-Reggiano and a sprinkling of aged balsamico.. so fattening.. but so good!
Every Saturdays & Sundays now, from 11am till 3pm, you may partake of this brunch at the Damansara Heights branch.. the menu starts from RM88.00 nett for buffet only and for that additional free flow Prosecco and Red or White Wines – RM188.00 nett per pax.
Live entertainment, and a cozy atmosphere that’s kids friendly, in the ultra cool neighbourhood of Damansara Heights. Music’s a bit dated, but some might like it I suppose.
I can see why, young families and parents might find this appealing – their kids would loooove the selection of pizza and pastas. To me the pizzas were pretty average and lacked that intense tomato luster, cheesy decadence, and succulence you find in real authentic Italian pizzas. A wee bit of a let down.
However we were definitely partial to the angel hair pasta, the Seafood platters, and the baked tomato, peppers and fresh olives. The fresh fruit of rock melon and honey dew were impressively sweet too. We found the meats such as fish and beef overcooked and on the hard side. The soup of the day, a mushroom soup was a little thin and unimpressive.
Somewhat average tasting penne pasta – tasted like something from a canteen. We did however loved the first batch of angel hair pasta, that was cooked perfectly al dente, and had moist and unctuous chunks of meat and bacon in it. Super addictive.
Overly salty beef that really need to eat it with a ton of bread. I felt like running water through it, just to remove the salt.
But, nothing a whole load of Prosecco could’t fix though.. I guess the saltiness just makes you want to drink more. And the free flow we have to admit, was impressive. Honest to god free-flow. Not pretend free-flow. We are talking non-stop top ups of Prosecco, White and Red wines. Drink till your heart’s content!
Desserts were beautifully plated .. but the fruits were amazingly sweet. Tasted like Japanese rock melon and honey dew.
Nero Teca’s Weekend Brunch… every Saturday & Sundays from 11am till 3pm. From RM88.00 nett for just the buffet spread alone.. and for that additional free flow Prosecco and/or Red & White Wines – RM188.00 nett per pax. Some hits and definitely some misses, but we were forgiving, because the fabulous service, rather cool, well-informed and effervescent staff, not unlike that of their Prosecco, just knocked the experience out of the park. All you boozy brunch folks, this is THE brunch to mark an X on, on your calendars. Don’t say, we didn’t say!

Bubbly so early in the morning? And live music too? I would love that…for a nice cosy dinner. Everything looks great but I have my eyes on all those lovelies on the counter – wish I could grab all those, can’t find them here. 🙁
LOL, I had champagne breakfast in Sofitel SO Singapore at 9 in the morning, so I cannot comment on “early”.. hahaha. Come to KL for this then – perfect over the weekend!
I think I get it…..this brunch was more about the bubbly than the food! 😀
Depends on what you like.. We like the bubbles of course! Anyway, the weekend offerings change, so am sure there’s plenty of Italian classics in store! 😀
that seafood platter really looked enticing
Cumi was the one who laid it out like that.. that’s why he’s my favourite food stylist! haha:D
