Saturday Spanish Alcohol and Food Buffet at Sentidos

I’ve always walked past Sentidos at the Starhill gallery but never had the chance to visit the place.

Now, with their current “Live the Life” promotion going on, i.e. Viva la Vida, I could hardly resist the opportunity to check out its Spanish Tapas. Viva La Vida occurs every Saturday night (8-10pm) and it’s a buffet spread of Spanish cuisines. Priced at RM98++ per pax, guests can pick from a line of cold and hot food selections, signature tapas, salads, as well as unlimited booze.

Walking into Sentidos, the room feels commodious, like a regular sit-down restaurant, but there’s also a handsome, well stocked bar, towards the back of the dining space. I generally die for Spanish sangria, but the sangria as it turned out was a little generic and oversweet.

The white wine served at the buffet however was good. Those intent on a complete meal should really zero in on their paella, saffron-flavored rice heavy with seafood.

The rice was cooked al dente and the flavour in the Paella was delicious. Other hot favourites include the sauteed mushrooms, grilled lamb cutlets, the grilled chirozo, chicken croquettes and beef meatballs.

Salads seem somewhat out of place, but the cherry tomatoes and all manner of olives were fabulous. Pizza-like flatbreads with tasty toppings, were fun despite the overly doughy crust. A somewhat strange version of the Ceviche that had salad cream in it would have been better done the traditional way.

The buffet line – a nice variety of paellas, nachos, tortillas with ceviche and guacamole, cold cuts, salads and antipasti.

Prepared by Sentidos Gastrobar’s very own Chef Kok, the RM98++ pricing comes inclusive of the chalkboard dine-in menu, which will be prepared upon request.

An even more exciting concept is the unlimited free flow of selected alcohol between those hours. The options include Tiger draught, red and white house wines, and 5 choices of cocktails (caipirinha, caipiroska, margarita, sangria and mojito).
