You really feel like you are dining in an authentic, fashionable, ‘high-collar’ Japanese environment when you look around and see the pretty, meticulously neat Japanese lady who manages the place. She and her husband do a great job running this cosy little cafe on the corner of the E-tiara Service Apartments in Subang Jaya.
For the past 3 years or so, this has been our favourite place to buy excellent, fluffy, hot out-of-the-oven home-made bread. They do these funky flavoured black sesame, green tea and blueberry bread that we keep coming back for. We like the green tea one because it is baked with huge sweetened beans that go really well with melted butter. The freshly baked bread resembles a brown crusted cylinder with a soft green center and deep red colourations where the beans are. Although on the expensive side for bread (RM4 for just two thick slices), it is truly worth every cent. The taste and texture is out of this world. A chewy, crusty baked outer with a soft, pillowy center. Try having this with coffee for breakfast -makes a fine start to the day. Biting into one of the beans will give you a nice, sweet kick. We usually buy a couple to go. Don’t forget to ask them to slice it up for you.
The food here is fabulous too. We didn’t care too much for the desserts as we found them too sweet. However, the Japanese coffee and the various pasta and rice dishes are pretty wonderful. That and the breads. I leave you with some food porn. Enjoy!
Beef steak don – beef tenderloin, onions and eggs on rice. RM23.00
Fisherman style – spicy tomato pasta RM28.00
Sumiyaki Special Coffee deep roast – RM7 (refills RM3)
Sumiyaki means Charcoal in Japanese. This coffee has a slightly bitter taste with a unique smoky flavour. Very nice indeed.
the charcoal strawberry cake roll
Desserts L – R – cheese cake, banana cake roll (RM5), charcoal strawberry cake roll (RM6.20)

There really is nothing better in the world than fresh hot bread is there? And those different flavours sound amazing.
Yum! I love Japanese bakeries. I just discovered another one in my NYC neighborhood. I don’t think a dessert can be “too sweet” 🙂
Yum! I swear the Japanese (and after that the Taiwanese) makes the best looking dessert and bread.
