You won’t believe it but Putrajaya is supposed to be to Malaysia, what Hamburg is to Germany. I mean, though it is a much smaller geographical area, Putrajaya has a ridiculously high proportion of bridges. Putrajaya is a planned city and is located south of Kuala Lumpur and serves as the federal administrative center of Malaysia. Some people think that the amount spent on the architectural design and the landscaping of this modern city was a waste of money, including the countless, pointless bridges. I on the other hand, think that Putrajaya and it’s bridges look rather grand, don’t you think?
Moving along.
Another part of Putrajaya that I like is the Lakeside.
One will notice a modern minaret-like structure overlooking the lake and this is none other than the Pullman Putrajaya Lakeside hotel. If you are lucky you will catch a wake boarder or two in action and even recently, the International Water Ski Federation (IWSF) Waterski and Wake-board World Cup series was held on this very lake.
The deco at the Pullman can only be described as being a mix of multi-cultural ethnic influences. For a touch of Borneo, the lakefront Rafflesia rooms are fitted with timber pillars and hand-woven wall hangings, the Jasmine rooms remind me of mystical India, while the brass lanterns fitted rooms with frames inlaid with mosaic are more reminiscent of the Moghul design. For me, the 250-seat open air amphitheatre located on the lakefront is the most impressive.. it’s too bad this hotel looks deserted though. It’s already been close to two years since the launch and it’s still pretty quiet.
PULLMAN PUTRAJAYA LAKESIDE :If coming from the airport, head north via the Elite Highway (NKVE). Take the Putrajaya and Cyberjaya exit, then proceed in the direction of Putrajaya International Convention Centre at Precinct 5. The hotel is located opposite the Convention Centre. Ifcoming from Kuala Lumpur, head south via the Kuala Lumpur Putrajaya Expressway and turn left after the Putrajaya tollgates. Head towards Putrajaya International Convention Centre at Precinct 5, the hotel is located opposite.

Wah… great shooting, girl 😉
why thank you jules!
I’ve been forced to trudge to putrajaya too many times because of work (and gotten lost frequently at first because of misleading signboards!) … but even though I have no love for the place, your photos do make it look admirably beautiful, heheh!
i know the feeling. working there takes all the joy out of it. I have to agree, the signage’s suck. the place is pretty though 😛
What beautiful bridges! I love these architectural photos. Great post 🙂
it is a pretty place leslie. too bad it is so far from where i live. Most Malaysians hardly go down there unless it’s for a purpose or if they work there!
Hmm… the hotel does look very nice but the prices is exorbitant lo..
agree
All I remember about Putrajaya is driving around in circles, flustered, looking for some dewan where my friend’s wedding was held.
I guess I should have stopped and actually noticed how beautiful it is! 🙂
J, i guess! 😛
