I like The Datai, Langkawi, for the simple fact that it reminds me of a silent retreat. Everything about this island hotel is constructed around an amphitheatre of virgin tropical rainforest whose resident birdlife and monkeys (cumi & ciki!) provide the only external intrusion. This place totally blends into its natural unspoilt surroundings. There is a very long, deliberate walk to the beach, forcing you to appreciate the lush green hills even more. I like taking the slow walk to the beach barefoot, to see this..
This gorgeous sunset is what I am talking about. Pink hues take over the sky at sunset and the only thing missing is a loved one!

hi david! thanks for stopping by! yea, i love langkawi. seems like each time i got, it keep getting better. however, i wish they would have developed the artsy aspect of it more because it has so much potential, know what i mean?
ahhh, paradise on earth! this is a langkawi that i’m not familiar with but must look for someday… mostly i remember tourist-packed beaches and rather tacky resorts from my visits 😀
well, it’s really rather cool and they have some chill out restaurants that I think u will like now.. 😉
Lovely! I came to Lagkawi many years ago by sailing boat with a crazy French guy I met in Krabi (Thailand). I stayed just one day but loved the place and the amazing nature. I guess I should plan some time a trip to Malaysia…
