Tiny, shiny, sleek and compact.
All key words for me when considering a pair of spanking new headphones.
The latest WF-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones which are more like earbud headphones, were sent to us for review, and this is what we thought of it.
First of all, I loved the fit of the WF-1000XM3. Cleverly twisting into place, secured by the structure of your ear, they feel snug and comfortable thanks to a customized selection of non-slip rubber and foam earbud covers are supplied in the box.
Since no pair of earholes on earth are created equal, you are highly encouraged to try each pair out for size to see which fits best, and which delivers the best noise cancelling effect too (especially great for long haul plane rides). Also, even with day to day commute jostling and walking about town, the earbuds stay in place, with no adjustments necessary for the first time you put them in place.
The WF-1000XM3 also has a proximity sensor that provides wearing detection, so the WF-1000XM3 always knows when they’re in use. Take one out and your music will pause, resuming when you put it back in place. A tap of the touch panel will pause or play your tunes. Intuitive and cool – you don’t miss a beat in your music and you don’t need to rewind a playlist that has just run off the rails whilst you paused to chat with a friend, or talk to the Grab driver.
It’s other specifications include Digital Noise Cancelling with HD Noise Cancelling Processor QN1e and Dual Noise Sensor Technology, Bluetooth NFC pairing, Up to 24 hours of battery life for all-day listening, Quick Attention function lets you chat easily without removing your headphones. There’s also Google Assistant support and familiar Sony audio processing refinements, including DSEE HX, which is available to restore subjective detail to lower resolution recordings.
In a nutshell, these headphones are great for folks who:
desire noise cancelling capabilities but are not into the bulky nature of over-ear headphones
like portable, slim sleek and cool looking earbud headphones
have struggled with ill fitting, too big/too small earbuds in the past ( these rest comfortably thanks to the ergonomic three-point fit and non-slip rubber nozzle )
don’t mind paying a premium for something premium. These handily outperform the AirPods (2019) and Apple AirPods Pro; plus, they’re a bit cheaper than the latter.
These are not so great for :
Athletes who would workout for hours in them – these earbuds offer zero sweat-resistance; they don’t even have a nano-coating to protect against water. If they malfunction, you can call it a day!
Folks who just don’t have the ear structure to accommodate and lock in, earbud headphones (read: my hubby!)
THE PRO’S ARE APLENTY THOUGH
Though not the cheapest by a long yard, the Sony WF-1000XM3 makes it easy to justify the cost. It’s comfortable, easy to manage and use, and has superb connection strength. Its DSEE HX processing technology promotes clear audio and believe us when we say that these are the best noise cancelling true wireless earbud headphones on the market for now!
