Last weekend, was one that was filled with wines and food, at Renoma Cafe Gallery in KL. It was a great opportunity for wine afficionados to sample interesting labels and to get to know the wine reps and wine makers from popular wine regions around the world.
Organized by The Straits Wine Co. , 2013 is the second year that they are organizing these sort of wine roadshows (you might remember the jalan bangkung one last year that was rather well executed) , that saw almost 200 wines come together under one roof, or should I say, along one street, like one big, happy wine carnival.
Though a lot smaller than the previous one, this wine fiesta still showcased 38 award winning premium wines of 16 wineries, from 14 regions (Provence, Rhone Valley, Cognac, Armagnac, Rioja, Collio, Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Yarra Valley, Clare Valley, Frankland River, Marlborough, Hawkes Bay, Maipo Valley) and 6 countries (France, Spain, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, & Chile).
So far, this wine fiesta has been held in 7 cities, Cameron Highland, Ipoh, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, Langkawi, Penang and KL. The purpose of this event was to let both wine beginners and experts, come together and discover new wines by meeting with experienced and knowledgeable winery reps. Winemakers and representatives were present to talk about their wines and to give insights into the vineyard, climate, winemaking and reveal anecdotes of their particular winery.
Amongst the brands present were, Kaesler Barossa Valley, Australia; Nashwauk McLaren Vale, Australia; Clare Wine Co,Clare Valley, Australia; Yarra Yering, Yarra Valley, Australia; C.V.N.E Rioja, SPAIN; De Martino, Maipo Valley, Chile; Babich, Marlborough, New Zealand; CJ Pask, Hawkes Bay, New Zealand; AIX Provence, France; Marco Felluga Collio, Italy; Fengrove, Frankland River, Australia, Mas Neuf, Nimes, France; Samalens, Pyrenees, France; and finally Leopold Gourmel, Cognac, France.
An informative and fun night out filled with wine. We hope there will be another wine fiesta, on as large a scale as the Jalan Bangkung one, and soon!

Nice wine tasting event although it was the last photo that caught my eye.
I do like cognac but to be honest it’s my first time hearing of a 12 year old single grape armagnac. That’s right down my alley, I would love to taste that! 🙂
You should have come! 😀
This event seems to have received a great crowd there. I am sure they have plenty of excellent wine to offer there. Too bad I’m more of a collector than a drinker now 😛
Well, even collectors will have to eventually drink their own wines.. no? haha. otherwise call me, I’ll drink it for you!
