I was recently invited to the Norwegian Food and Consumer Fair 2011 at the Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang, just a couple of days ago. Organised by the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, six exhibitors offering the best of Norwegian seafood and seafood products, marinated herrings, Norwegian baked goodies, Dr Barman’s Superbrush and dental care products, Norwegian Stressless recliners, and a photo gallery of spectacular Norway, were amongst the things on display at this mini exhibition, held over 4 days (from the 16-20th of March).
Oh my! Hunger pangs.. C-Food Portions, the importer and distributor of Norsksjomat premium grade seafood and seafood products, had chillers at the fair stocked with fresh salmon and salmon trout, Atlantic cod, live scallops, frozen lobsters, king crab, Atlantic mackerel, coldwater shrimps, salmon burgers, gravlaks, caviar and salmon roe. Cooked seafood products were offered for the tasting such as smoked salmon, gravlaks and hot smoked mackerel, among others.. I wanted to buy the lot! I also learnt that Norway is the 2nd largest exporter of seafood in the world and more than 37 million meals with Norwegian seafood are consumed worldwide every day.
Sildakongen’s marinated herring and herring products are famous in Norway. They include herring fillets for your egg sandwich, Herring in Tomato & Madeira Sauce, Herring in Mustard and Dill, Pickled Herring in Port Wine Sauce and Traditional Sour Pickled Herring. At the Din Baker Handel booth, Norwegian breads and Norwegian artisan sandwiches such as Flying Chicken Cheese , Dancing Chicken with Mushroom , Swimming Salmon, Special Beef Salami and BBQ Bugwich were on display, as well as pastries.
I loved the Stressless® range of contemporary style recliners and sofas that automatically responds to my seating position or reclining positions by just a sheer shift of my body weight. The innovative and award-winning Dr Barman’s SuperBrush from Bergen, Norway, imported and distributed by Smile Link, had a cute bubble shaped three-headed brush that removes 20% more plaque than conventional electrical toothbrush. I thought this was pretty neat – had no idea before that they were from Norway.
Finally the fair also featured the photo exhibition “Norway at a glance”,which walked you through life in Norway, as seen through the lens of various Norwegian photographers. Sports, fjords, mountains, cities and industry are showcased.. all very cool and exciting especially since I have not been to Norway before. I found it fascinating. Thanks Marian of Scribe Media Link for the invite.

Wow – that “Norwegian” couple sure looks familiar… 😉
Hahaha.. now where have we seen em before:P
You the best, Ciki! Love your pictures of the fair, especially the live scallop on your hand. And you own that Stressless recliner.
I WISH i owned that Stressless chair laaa 😛
Those little cucumber bites look good.
Mackerel! My favourite.. they make the best hors d’oeuvres ever!
Waw… the recliner is big enough to sit two – me & my hubby!
LOL.. but it can only fit one of me !! Super comfortable – just push back into the seat, and it just reclines at the best possible angle. The Norwegians sure know about comfort;)
I would love to try Norwegian food! Ciki, what a surprise that you are not wearing “sexy” clothes! 😉
surely you’ve eaten Salmon and or Mackerel from Norway..?! 😛
