Jaya One, PJ

Jaya ONE is starting to fill up with interesting restaurants. The office lots are not in full swing yet.. but soon.. real soon…

Walking through Jaya One feels like walking around during a holiday at some Bazaar…

Airy, roomy and dazzling white !

We love the pretty lanterns, we do… all gorgeous and colourful and shiny and billowing in the breeze:)

Here are some of the restaurants/bistros which have opened up in the inner court…
The last time we were here, was like 6 months ago… that time we ate at DUCKING.
This time we wanted to try something different.

We saw this place called Tappers which was packed to the rafters – a good sign. We decided to go in.

My, my .. no wonder the crowd. The set menu was really cheap!
DSC07996
Very reasonable prices for an air-conditioned, comfortable cafe setting.
DSC08006
Here is my Hainanese Chicken Chop. (Obviously not as good as Yut Kee, Jln Dang Wangi but pretty ok la). The portion was small but the taste was acceptable. Nothing fantastic but for those prices, what do you expect eh..
The peas were hard.. but not frozen .. thank god… :O

DSC08008
The bangers and mash were also average…

DSC08012
But look at the bill… ain’t it affordable? No wonder so many executives eat here… Cheap minus the SWEAT.
A break from the normal coffee shop routine.. but nothing more, i guess.
Ok… so what’s next?? The portions were so small, we went looking for dessert.

Ooo… we ‘spy with our little eye’ nyonya cakes at Brisik!

DSC08021
Walking upstairs, we were greeted by really cute, vibrant deco… erm, but an empty room.

Where were all the patrons?!
DSC08028

Anyway we ordered the cakes and some Irish coffee..

Yikes! the cake was HARD! And it lacked any santan taste or aroma…
DSC08034 DSC08035
Check out the irish coffee. What you see on the left is the MENU picture. What you see on the right is the TRUE picture… haha… bad shape man.
Funny thing was that this tea, cost as much as the lunch we had in Tappers… Never again, i tell ya.
DSC08036
The only good thing, that Brisik has going for them, is the laid-back upper deck patio it has.
Best thing is to organise an event here.. but BYOF… you have been warned !

On the way home, i caught sight of something that made my eyes light up… ! HALO CAFE! Opening soon. Man, i used to looooooooove this place … the one in KL. Near Petaling St… I think it was situated on Jalan Balai Polis. That was like a loooooooooong time ago, back when I first came back from studies (yes, i am that old). We were so impressed with this place because it was one of the first open-mic cafes in KL… Granted the singers/music was mainly in Chinese, and we understood little of it… but no matter.. we loved the vibe anyway.

The drinks were cool.
I hope this place picks up, i DO 😉
