Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee

Pudu Chan Fatt Wanton Mee… Started in 1955, missing since 1996. Now emerges in 2017 in Damansara Utama..

Oh, but it’s more than Wantan Mee that this place is about.

They serve a whole load of dishes and different permutations of it. With noodles, without noodles. With white rice, dark rice, fried egg or without. And the pricing is along the lines of what’s expected of establishments such as these, that have come off the streets of Pudu, in the the aircond comfort of a DU shop-lot. Still a price range of RM7.30 – RM10.90 is affordable to most PJ/KLites.

Wanton Mee, Lion Head Noodles, Curry laksa, Sui Kao, Charsiew, Chinese Pork & Liver Sausages, Hainanese Chicken rice, and even a all day breakfast to boot.. there’s really a lot of things to order.

We liked the Lion Head noodles where the meat balls were super meaty. The noodles we didn’t like so much as they were overcooked or maybe it’s because the noodles were cooked further while we were snapping away pictures. Here’s a great place hidden in Subang Jaya for Lion Head meatball noodles actually, Lin Shanghai

The Charsiew in the Wantan mee unfortunately was not up to par. It was too hard. The bamboo stretched wantan noodles were thin, had a nice flavour and were cooked al dente.

After mentioning our disappointment casually to the proprietor, we were treated to a few pieces of half fat, half lean meat for comparison but still it wasn’t tender. A lot of improvement needed in the roast meats.

The curry laksa with chicken was not my cup of tea. Thick broth but we didn’t enjoy the flavor.

Untitled

I liked the flavour of the dark rice and the Chinese Sausages. Super yum but the egg was overcooked as you can tell.

Untitled
The chicken was just so-so for me. We got a bony part, poorly chopped, and it was tough to get at the meat..

Untitled

The Sui Kao and the Prawn wantan were meaty good but the broth was too salty.

The coffee was thick and sweet just like what you’d expect from a cup of Hainanese Coffee but I still prefer my Long Black.

Not totally what we expected with some hits and misses, but generally not an unpleasant lunch ;). We did catch them on a really busy day.

Come here for the Hainanese all day breakfasts, the Lion Head Noodles and the comforts of air-conditioning. Prices while not cheap are not unreasonable.
