Last week’s most memorable meal happened at Mezze KL.
Kronenbourg 1664 and Mezze hosted a pop-up Michelin Dining series with guest Chef Alexy Fuchs from Alsace’s One Michelin restaurant Le Gavroche, and it was gooooood.
Amuse bouche – Ratatouille with Parmesan crisp is rich, and gazpacho of rockmelon with Port wine
The 6 course set menu of modern classic cuisine, paired with carefully crafted K1664 cocktail or boutique Alsatian wines, consisted of the following …
Kronenbourg infused foie gras with caramalized grapes – perfectly seared foie gras
Prawns wrapped in kataifi pastry, Aubergine caviar, cilantro Cream – nice and crispy on the outside, belying a succulent, juicy prawn interior
Hake Tartare with infuses of kaffir lime, Candied lemon cream – raw goodness.. so fresh it made your skin tingle
Veloute of Green Pea Crème, egg and Parmesan puffs – like cavorting with cloudy pockets of cheesy airiness!
Roasted Duck Fillet with coffee and peach coulis – gamy and tough, not for the faint hearted.. nor those sporting dentures 😛
Sourdough bread toasted with Parmesan, wrapped around a hunky medium rare 100% Black Angus Beef Tenderloin, chiffon potato seasoned with sage – superb specimen of a steak if I ever had a better one
Stuffed Quail with foie gras and wine reduction – my favourite for the night was this tiny bird with a heart of foie (not gold)… big love for tiny sumptuousness!
K1664 lemon-infused sorbet
Timun Black pepper ice cream, Kronenbourg Caramel Coffee with pan fried strawberries; Dark Valrhona Chocolate – biscuit base covered with chocolate mousse, capped with Vanilla tonka bean ice cream; Yuzu Macaron with Pineapple Basil Sorbet
petit fours – them K1664 infused marshmallows were the bomb!
What a night. Another great guest chef event organized by Mezze. Am sure that if this wasn’t already so before, their reputation for picking the best visiting chefs, should certainly precede them now!
