OK, so this has got to be the THIRD Bubbalicious I have attended at Prego, The Westin KL.
But this one might possibly be, the bubbliest yet.
That’s right folks, its famed Sunday bubbly brunch starting on 30 November 2014, between 11.30am to 2.30pm, is back with a vengeance.. and we went to check it out last week.
So, did the spread pass the test?
First of all, the free-flowing Moet Champagne is already a huge plus in my books. You can’t go wrong with bubbly and brunch. But alongside that, there were also wines, beers, juices etc.. so you can get nicely sloshed Italian style, while pigging out on hearty Italian staples. Not a bad state to be in, on a fine Sunday afternoon, if you ask me.
As usual we start off with the Bubbalicious all you can eat appetisers, salads, fresh seafood on ice and cheeses..
start at the top.. and work your way to the bottom!
the super bubbly, bubbalicious team at Prego!
Any let’s not beat around the bush, for me, the only reason I come to these brunches is for its insanely decadent premium meats and à la carte main courses. Yes, yes, meat all the way. And bubbles too of course. Why waste space on lesser items, I always say. The outdoor area is reserved for the BBQ-ing of the lamb on a spit. This lamb is just heavenly. If you have to forsake all else, do not forsake the lamb! The juicy, fatty, unctuousness of it’s flesh will have you quaking at the knees. The flavour is amazing – must be the Chef’s secret seasoning. Damn good.
Chef Vincenzo Sirna.. puts his on special touch on the risotto!
Oh, and if you’re the sort who gets a little starstruck every time a chef appears, then you will love how the Prego chefs come and serve you at the table.. 5 star service !
Anyway, to start, one should always explore a vast selection from the buffet counter and choose from an assortment of Italian antipastos and salads, fresh seafood. I am talking sea scallops and freshly shucked oysters; handpicked collection of international cheese, charcuterie and homemade Italian breads. The works.
Just can’t get enough.. small oysters are the sweetest! I don’t really fancy the big ones at all, as they have a way of sticking in the back of my throat..
charcuterie
Anchovies on sundried tomatoes were the bomb
For those with an insatiable appetite, wait for the main courses – succulent cuts of premium meats and seafood spit roasted on a charcoal grill ranging from Roasted Lamb, Duck Leg Confit, Lamb Sausages to Beef Rib Eye Steak and Tiger Prawns.
They overcooked my Tiger Prawns though.. what a waste. Remember to tell the chefs not to overcook them. Watch over your prawns like a hawk!
The Westin Kuala Lumpur new Executive Chef, Michael Andreas Gremer
If you’re still hungry, dig into more carbs.. in the form of freshly baked wood oven fired Pizzas, homemade Italian Pastas and Risottos all delivered to your table.. you don’t even have to walk, you can let all that carbo go straight to your ass!
Service with a smile:) So, you should always smile back!
Vegetarian pizza.. another item that’s a waste of stomach space (for me anyway) because 1. it has no meat, and 2. it’s practically two thirds carbs! OK, but before you go saying Ciki is an anti carbo anti vegetarian freak, let me just say I did try this pizza, and it was rather nice.
Love the truffle risotto! Super addictive.. Chef Vincenzo poses with his piece de resistance
See.. I do eat carbs!
Yummeh!
more pasta..
Greedy Ciki.. just look at my plate!
Relax and end the lazy Sunday on a decadent note with an assortment of desserts. Indulge in creations such as Prego’s famed Tiramisu, Sicilian Cannoli Filled with Ricotta and Ginaduja Chocolate Cake to name a few. The dessert menu also includes a selection of Italian Gelato and Sorbetti
Sicilian Cannoli Filled with Ricotta (on the right) .. my fav!
Pastry Chef Michelle Low .. she makes great desserts.. I highly recommend the Sicilian Cannoli Filled with Ricotta!
So, what’s the damage? Well the Food & Champagne package goes for RM338.00++/person, and includes free flow of Moët and Chandon champagne, red wine, white wine, draught beer, soft drinks, chilled juices.
Without the bubbly but with some booze, it’s an affordable RM276.00++/person and this includes free flow of red wine, white wine, draught beer, soft drinks and chilled juices. Just the food alone, is priced at RM148.00++/person.
Our verdict?
Not bad at all. Check out Bubbalicious if you are looking for a great, value for money boozy brunch.
