We visited JP teres at Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur next to the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center for a buffet lunch recently and pleasantly found the Malaysian cuisine presented by its live cooking stations rather delectable.
The international hotel chain, Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur, with 412 hotel rooms opened its doors 8 months ago, right in the heart of the city.
We were pretty impressed by the hotel just by walking into the minimalist foyer with a high ceiling. JP teres is located on the right side as you walk in from the main entrance of the hotel. The sophisticated ambience all round simply feasted our eyes before the lunch buffet. We arrived about noon just before the business lunch crowd started trickling in. The frequent patronage turnover certainly showed that they were here not just for the ambience but JP teres’ culinary tastes as well.
If you prefer the warmth of the tropics, you can sit outside by the sports bar
We are always apprehensive when hotels attempt to capture the unique flavors of Malaysian cuisine within its fancy walls. The beautifully decorated interior with high ceilings and comfy cool climate may offer a visual treat and respite from the tropical heat and humidity outside, but could the cuisine, which many Malaysians are so familiar with, be as good in taste and authenticity? Well, JP teres’ kitchen team surely had picked the right fresh ingredients and applied the right recipes, because we were certainly satisfied with which ever marinated meat we picked and a la carte dishes ordered.
Check out those thighs!
Two live kitchens, one for Malay and Indian cuisine, and another for Chinese cuisines, offer diners a clear view of the chefs and assistants chopping, marinating, mixing, baking, grilling and cooking up tasty dishes to be served on the buffet and for special orders.

The local cuisine cooked by local chefs at JP teres are bound to satisfy both travellers and locals alike in a comfortable setting.

These sort of buffets are perfect for tourists a little nervous about the streetside stalls, and glad that JP Teres does those dishes justice! So glad to see popiah there – I love them and they so rarely have them on buffets! Hurrah for Hyatt!
I agree.. It has a nice selection of Malaysian cuisine.. minus the heat and dirt and err.. rats? LOL
You’re making me hungry! I travel to eat and drink coffee and tea. Is that bad? Too late, I’ve been doing it for 9 years, extensively, and I am still hungry.
