Oh.. we are so excited about ‘Bring Me Food’ with Guest Chef Andrew Blundy at Tosca, DoubleTree by Hilton!
So how, exactly, does a London pub, the type of establishment not exactly known for its haute cuisine, in a country that’s famously (if erroneously) known for a miserable foodie culture, get awarded a Michelin star, the height of European foodie awards?
Good question.
Michelin guide accredited Chef Andrew Blundy.. animated, knowledgeable.. and immensely entertaining!
And good thing we got to ask it to Chef Andrew Blundy himself, as he was the one serving at that very pub, called The Fox, at Broughton Gifford, when the Michelin star was awarded.
chicken tortellini in chicken broth – alongside some crusty bread, this dish is excellent comfort food
Nestled in the heart of this popular and picturesque village, The Fox at Broughton Gifford is a rather unique pub. You see, they created a seasonal british inspired menu, with some classical touches, so much so that at some point, they began raising their own pigs to produce their own house charcuterie, air cured hams, wet cured hams, sausages and even bacon, and also baked a substantial amount of their own bread. What they didn’t produce in house they sourced from The Thoughtful Bread Company, which is arguably the areas premier ethical bakery. The Fox also has a substantial vegetable and herb garden from where they get all their own home grown herbs. Add to this a very good selection of west country beers and ciders, and an interesting wine and spirit list, and it is no surprise that this place garnered a michelin star, just by the very spinach cheese omelet that Chef Andrew Blundy cooked that one fateful day for the right guest, on that momentous and life-changing (for a restaurant anyway) occasion.

And what does all this have to do with anything? Well, the famous Chef Blundy has in fact, arrived on our shores. Tosca, the Italian restaurant at DoubleTree by Hilton Kuala Lumpur has come up with a Modern Italian promotion from the 22nd October – 30th November, featuring Michelin guide accredited Chef Andrew Blundy, who has more than 25 years of experience under his belt! Lucky us, we got to check it out last week. Chef Blundy is also introducing “Bring Me Food”, a traditional family-style dining in Italy that allows diners to share, taste and sample a variety of dishes with friends and family. Diners only need to decide the price for the meal from RM80++ per person upwards, till RM150++ and beyond, and Chef Blundy will cook up dishes for sharing. If you are lucky.. he might just cook his award winning, spinach cheese omelet for you.. maybe!
bring me food.. now!
And the more adventurous you are the better. If you just say, ” I don’t care.. or I put my dinner in your hands Chef.. Bring Me Food!” .. he WILL. And what a dinner it will be!
chicken soup is good for the soul!
red wine is good for the heart.. a well selected Chianti that went with both white and red meat, as well as salads and seafood
The big, smiley chef.. He’s so nice and down to earth.. you wouldn’t think he was such an accomplished Chef!
This chef believes in keeping things simple. And though molecular gastronomy has its place, one should not go overboard. Common sense, some talent behind the stove, and using the freshest produce, is more important, in creating phenomenal cuisine.
Whipping up some magic.. big chef style!
And when told to finish the sentence – “If I were not a Chef, I would be… ” He replied simply in one word – “unhappy”.
chicken wing salad
spinach, cheese mushroom pizza
seafood pizza
lasagna
Mediterranean style cooked fish fillets
lamb shank
platter of melt in your mouth, velvety smooth desserts
In conjunction with the promotion, with every minimum spend of RM350 on a single receipt (total nett bill) guests are entitled to submit one entry for a competition which offers a grand prize of a return flight ticket for two to Milan, Italy (3D2N stay) via Etihad Airways.
Not only that, a special ala carte menu and an exclusive one day five-course wine dinner with Ruffino winery priced at RM220++ per person will be served on the 2nd of November.
I love it when a chef.. looks like a chef! LOL
Well all I can say is that, I thoroughly enjoyed dinner, so make sure you get yourselves down to Tosca, for “Bring Me Good”, with Chef Blundy, otherwise you might very well be .. Unhappy!

My favourite was the tortellini.. but yeah, melt off the bone tender lamb is great too:)
Food was awesome that night. With the rain and all, it certainly worked out quite an appetite in us>.<
Perfect weather for simple comfort food!
Ooh, I love the sound of that! That bottle of chianti has got me wanting to leave my desk and catch a glass of wine right now.

Wow, that “Bring Me Food” sounds remarkably like a Western version of the Japanese omakase, doesn’t it? I also love that you can specify how much you want to pay 😀 … gotta try it when I’m next back in KL next month.
Omakase.. that’s right! I like them both styles- eastern and western!
