Just because it’s the weekend.. and everyone deserves, a Slice of the moon..
The Mooncake festival falls on the 15th day of the 8th moon, of the Chinese Lunar Calendar every year. Moon gazing is not unique to Malaysia nor to just the Chinese. The Japanese also indulge in moon gazing in a festival known as the Tsukimi, but they enjoy eating rice dumplings rather than the mooncake. On the same day, Koreans celebrate Chuseok which is a harvest day celebration and they eat crescent shaped glutinous rice cakes known as Song-pyeon. In Vietnam on the same day, the Vietnamese celebrate Children’s festival where parents dote on their kids and make them mid-autumn cakes for tea. These delicious goodies are known as the Tet trung thu.
And so it goes.. the celebration of the Mooncake festival is not unique to just the Chinese and is celebrated across borders. Remember that the next time you chomp down on a delicious slice of the moon.

I still liked the Moet & Chandon Rose Imperial Champagne Mini Ping Pei; Moet & Chandon Chanpagne Mini Ping Pei !! hic hic 😛
Moet and Chandon mooncakes? Please!!! Too pretentious already – tell the hotel. I really can’t stand stuff like these. As if the alcohol would not evaporate as in butter would not melt in mu mouth. Totally losing the essence of the mooncakes. What’s next? fillings with foie gras and cavair or perhaps sharkfins and bear claws pieces?
Haha… you ar, brother B! crazy.. Hello! these flavours have been around for ages.. and it taste bloody marvellous.. you should try it – just like how expensive cognacs are used in cooking – not like you taste the alcohol but it really changes up the flavour mah.. 😛 as for endangered species.. why would anyone want to partake of that. I wouldn’t condone it.
I hope to get my hands on moon cake tomorrow. Pray for me 😀
Will do Kiran;)
very traditional type of mooncake box!

Good marketing strategy -I like the container they come in. Maybe I just buy to get the box.
