“Why is OneSixFive, named OneSixFive?”
That’s what I asked the folks at InterCon KL, and they answered, “It’s the hotel’s lot number on Jalan Ampang .. 165, Jalan Ampang.”
Ah.. so now I know, and now, I will never forget!
Having a chat with Chef Darrell O’Neill, Executive Chef of the InterCon KL, about his plans for F&B for the year end.. it all sounds terribly exciting!
Wow, they really think of everything don’t they? OneSixFive is lush (over looks a gorgeous landscaped garden), plush and elegant. The atmosphere is incredibly comfortable, be it for business meetings or as a place for high tea, to meet and relax. Choose to enjoy the new tapas style menu offerings, or have a cup of freshly brewed Illy coffee, from the most expensive coffee machine in town (it’s not called the Elektra for nothing) you can definitely find a reason to tarry a while longer at the InterCon.
the spanking new bar
Or, if you’re just in town shopping and decide you would like to find a quiet spot to catch your breath and have a bite, the High-Tea at OneSixFive is a remarkably luxurious experience with Chef Darrell O’Neill’s exquisite afternoon tea specialties served with a pretty large selection of teas by the pot. For those who like their teas strong -there are the Earl Greys.. for those who like less caffeine in their tea, there are the green teas and fruit teas.
Selera Afternoon Tea – sesame and plain scones (served with devonshire clotted cream and fresh preserves), pastries (durian eclair, red bean and chocolate opera, mango pannacotta with coconut sago, egg tart with pineapple carpaccio, kuih lapis lemington) & savories (mini beef rendang burger, chicken satay pao, tuna and avocado kuih paiti, lamb samosa with mango chutney, butter prawn saffron roll).
Royal Afternoon tea – raisin and plane scones (served with devonshire clotted cream and fresh preserves), pastries (lemon meringue tart, caramel eclair, chocolate and pistachio opera, green tea cream brulee, hazelnut and tonka been macaron) & savories (crab remoulade roll, smoked salmon and caviar crostini, lobster and asparagus bagel, peking duck roll with cucumber and hoisin, wagyu beef tartare with wasabi and brioche).
You can choose from the Malaysian Menu – called the Selera Afternoon Tea , or you can opt for the traditional Royal Afternoon tea, either option being splendid choices in themselves. Either Menu is priced at RM75 per person including a pot of selected house tea. If you have kids with you, be sure to try the Hot chocolate which is rich and indulgent, and if you’re lucky, Chef Darrell may be at hand to mix it up for you! There is a choice of dark, milk or white chocolate cubes, that you dunk into hot milk.. watch it dissolve before your very eyes. Voila .. super decadent Hot Chocolate!
dunking the chocolate.. to make hot chocolate!
Come evenings, OneSixFive is the perfect place to relax in chic surroundings and kick back to the sounds of smooth live jazz whilst enjoying an extensive selection of over 100 beverages including International wines and beers, as well as a wide variety of creative craft cocktails. OneSixFive has a new mixologist from Boston and he will be working the cocktails to mesmerizing effect.. so we highly recommend you check out his prowess behind the bar, asap! Well, it is true then, what they say.. OneSixFive is not just an address, it’s the location to indulge!
