Synopsis: Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz)… Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.

Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as “The Basterds,” Raine’s squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich.

We found the show really entertaining and believable about 2/3’s of the way.  However, what we found a little annoying was, Tarantino’s brilliant dialogue-centered screenplay (his trademark of talk-talk-talk before any action starts) that gets a little self indulgent and tedious. Also, what the hell was that “ordering 3 whisky glasses” German give-away about? Someone kindly enlighten us.

We also found the part of an initially scared and timid Shosanna, becoming some fierce, vampish, red-lipsticked heroine at the end, all a bit too fast of  a transition and a bit absurd.

There are also tons of goofs .. read about it here (be warned.. spoilers included if you have yet to watch the movie).

Anyway, all goofs aside, Brad Pitt was great eye candy (as always) as were his ‘basterd’ group of hunks.  The basterds are narcissistic, and ripped.. the movie is gory and has that crazy eclectic folk ballad soundtrack, of the spaghetti western genre..  so, what’s not to love:P I thoroughly enjoyed the movie, despite its over the top-ness.  Cumi only liked half the movie and found the rest tedious. But that is Quentin Tarantino for you!
